INVENTORY and COLLECTION DEPARTMENT
The inventory department is the heart of every auction house. Inventory is the core business of auctioneers: inheritance, division, insurance, we inform our clients about the value of their assets but also advise them on tax matters at their request.
Inventories, a department at the heart of the action
Called upon by a notary, an heir, a company in difficulty or a private individual seeking information, our auctioneers put their skills and expertise at your disposal.
Auctioneers are trained to value all types of objects. They may be accompanied by specialist experts if your items are of high value: jewellery, old paintings, old drawings, watches, contemporary art, etc. The auction house has 30 departments and as many experts to support the auctioneers' expertise, providing you with estimates at the fairest price according to your requirements. For example, an estate inventory value is not the same as an insurance value.
With four auction houses, 12 auctioneers and fifteen clerks, requests for inventories are met without delay at your home. Inventories can also be carried out with our notary correspondents, the bequests and donations departments of associations or foundations that we support.
40 years of Voluntary and Judicial Inventories throughout Europe.
The "Inventory and Collections" department is run by Edouard Culot and Maître Mayeul de la Hamayde, auctioneers and partners in the group, assisted by Marc Chochon.
They can draw on the incomparable experience of Pélage de Coniac, a long-standing partner, Delphine Cheuvreux-Missoffe, a partner at 19GB, Guillaume de Freslon, our senior clerk, and Claude Corrado, a director specialising in furniture from the Classical Centuries.
At MILLON Belgium, Melissa Lafont heads up the same 'multi-specialty' Inventory department as far as Luxembourg, while at Nice and MILLON Riviera, Maître Paul-Antoine Vergeau and his team provide the same service for the entire Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region .
Each of them, like our 15 "Experts-Régions" in as many towns and cities in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Spain and Morocco, relies on our network of art experts for instant estimates, followed if necessary by expert appraisals after physical examination, which have ensured the reliability and reputation of the inventories and collections department for over 40 years.
A made-to-measure inventory service
Our department makes it a priority to personalise its reports and provide you with fast, efficient responses.
Your file is monitored by a specialised contact, an experienced clerk or auctioneer, from the preparation of your file through to its eventual sale.
For "multi-specialty" collections, the "Inventory" teams contact the relevant departments. The latter provide expert reports and descriptive, appraisal and photographic accounts, which, depending on your wishes, can go as far as a luxury version of the inventory, similar to a pre-sale catalogue.
A physical examination of your works of art, co-certified by our experts, is essential before we can establish their authenticity and value. A simple photograph allows us to send you a free estimate, but this will not have any tax or insurance value, for example. It is in fact necessary to see the objects to confirm their authenticity and their valuation, which is the raison d'être of our Inventory department.
An advisory department to optimise your assets
Working directly with "19GB", our judicial branch for inheritance, insurance and partition inventories, the "Inventories and Collections" department deploys the full range of tax advice, working hand in hand with your wealth advisers, lawyers and family notaries.
When faced with different strategies to adopt, MILLON is committed to providing you with the best advice on the choices you need to make to enhance the value of your assets, by calling on specialists in wealth and tax engineering.
From the cellar to the attic, we have a Speciality
At MILLON, we are committed to describing and valuing the very best of your assets, as well as the furniture and objects that are less important.
There is no question of leaving you in the middle of your estate, division or collection inventory by refusing to take everything into account! Your auctioneer or specialist clerk will point you in the direction of our sales in the appropriate formats: "Prestige catalogued and specialised sales", but also "bargains", "interiors and character", on-line, etc
Every year, MILLON organises more than 250 auctions in Europe, enabling us to promote the items entrusted to us.
