Silverware is found in many homes as tableware and decorative objects. Over the years, our auction house has appraised and auctioned superb pieces of silver and silverware created by great masters. Recognising a master goldsmith's hallmark, a letter date or a title mark is the daily work of our expert and our specialist.
Some exceptional pieces are signed by Paul de Lamerie, Paul Storr, Thomas Germain, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot, Pierre-Philippe Thomire, Martin-Guillaume Biennais, François-Thomas Germain, Thomas Heming, Robert-Joseph Auguste, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Chéret, Jean-Baptiste Odiot, Philippe-Jacques Boulenger, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Duplessis, Louis-Constant Sévin, François-Désiré Froment-Meurice, Henri Auguste, Jean-Baptiste-Claude Théodore Courtois, Charles-Nicolas Odiot, Pierre-François Drais, Charles Christofle, Georg Jensen, Jean Puiforcat, Hans Hansen, Buccellati and others.
Specialists in heraldry are regularly consulted to identify the coats of arms often affixed to silverware. This practice enhances the attractiveness of a piece for collectors, as well as for families wishing to reconstitute an ensemble that has been divided up over the generations.
Edouard Culot and Olivier Pomez appraise, research and value objects in this speciality .
