ART DECO DESIGN AUCTIONS

MILLON's 20th-century Decorative Arts department is headed by Antonio Casciello, who, like the Art Nouveau department, applies the same rigour to the Decorative Arts and Design auctions:

" Our policy in the department is to enhance the value of the works through a bibliographical and didactic approach, which leaves plenty of room for the image as the first milestone in the aesthetic relationship with the object. I believe that this has enabled us to develop a relationship of trust with our sellers, buyers and collectors that has helped me to understand Albert Camus when he says in The Myth of Sisyphus that "to collect is to be able to live off one's past ". The Decorative Arts Department team.

Alexis Jacquemard and Florian Douceron , specialist clerks, and Patrick Fourtin, our expert, are at your service to enhance your works, appraise them and retrace their history.

The Arts Déco & Design sales calendar

The Arts Décoratifs & Design sales department organises several events throughout the year.

The Arts Décoratifs & Design sales are annual events bringing together the greatest artists: Jacques Emile Ruhlmann, Paul Dupré Lafon, Jean Dunand, Armand Albert Rateau, Jules Leleu, Jean-Michel Frank, Jean Boris Lacroix, Maison Desny, Jean Royère, Jacques Adnet, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Mathieu Matégot, Georges Jouve, Charles & Ray Eames, Joe Colombo, Mies Van der Rohe, Warren Platner, Philippe Starck, Jean Pierre Wilmotte, Claude et François-Xavier Lalanne, Ron Arad, Pierre Paulin, Verner Panton (....)

The auctions are organised around two major specialist sales, ranging from Arts & Crafts to Contemporary Design. An illustrated catalogue is produced for these sales, which appeal to informed and passionate buyers.

Some MILLON auction results

Auctions specialising in Decorative Arts and Design are setting new records. In 2021, 70% of the lots presented found buyers. These results testify to the rigour of our team and the confidence of our customers.

These included some very fine bids, such as €620,000 for a Lion Devouring by Rembrandt Bugatti in 2019, €105,000 for an important vase by Jean Dunand in the same year, and €350,000 for a " Présidence " desk by Jean Prouvé in 2015.

A Petit Échassier by François-Xavier Lalanne sold for €85,000 after an estimate of €20,000 to €30,000. This lamp/sculpture in patinated copper, bronze and opaline glass was published by Artcurial in 1994 and sold with its certificate of authenticity.

Services

From the revival of industry to luxury craftsmanship, the experts in the Decorative Arts & Design department value and appraise your works.

Several collectors have entrusted their life's work to our department, for a dedicated sale highlighting the result of their passion.

The Made In Italia collection , auctioned in March 2020, celebrates the freedom and poetry of Italian design, with works by designers such as Gianfranco Frattini, Marco Zanini, Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis Group, Angelo Lelli (...). Works by glassmaker Luciano Vistosi were sold alongside pieces by architects and illustrators of all nationalities. Michele de Lucchi 's Scarlet furniture, for example, fetched €10,000.

The Kooples collection, sold in April 2020 in aid of the Fondation des Hôpitaux de France, combines design with a taste for noble, timeless materials: marble, cast aluminium, curved steel and more

Senator Paulin Daudé 's collection in April 2021 is a million-dollar sale! The sale featured avant-garde decorative arts, including enamels by Heiligenstein and a set of pâte de verre by François Emile Décorchemont, as well as works by Royal Copenhagen, Bing & Grøndahl and Sèvres, and stoneware by Auguste Delaherche and Albert-Louis Dammouse.
